About Rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin disease that we often diagnose in people who tend to flush or blush more easily than others. This flush/blush is typically concentrated on the cheeks and nose but can also involve the forehead, ears, back, and chest. However, rosacea causes more than a red face. In fact, it has many signs and symptoms and we often diagnose the four subtypes of rosacea including:
- Redness and flushing of the face and visible blood vessels
- Acne-like breakouts
- Thickening skin (including bumps, broken blood vessels, etc.)
- Rosacea in the eyes
Unfortunately, rosacea is a chronic (ongoing) condition which can affect your quality of life. What types of topical treatment for rosacea can I get through Vu Pharmaceuticals?
Through Vu Pharmaceuticals, we currently provide azelaic gel and acne wash for rosacea.
● Azelaic Gel (Azelaic acid 15%, niacinamide 4%)
Azelaic Gel is used to treat the signs and symptoms of rosacea on your skin, such as clearing the bumps, lesions, and swelling caused by rosacea. This medication contains two active ingredients used to treat rosacea. Both azelaic acid and niacinamide reduce the redness, scaling, and pimples associated with rosacea. Use this medication as instructed by your provider.

● Acne Wash (Salicylic acid 5%, sulfacetamide sodium monohydrate 10%)
Acne wash is commonly used to treat rosacea, mild to moderate acne, and seborrheic dermatitis (itchy flaky scalp/face). For rosacea specifically, it can help decrease the redness and swelling caused by this condition. This medication contains two active ingredients (salicylic acid, sulfacetamide sodium monohydrate) that reduces the redness, scaling, and pimples associated with acne, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. Use this medication as instructed by your provider.
