About Seborrheic Dermatitis and Other Scalp Conditions

We commonly diagnose and treat seborrheic dermatitis and other eczematous disorders and rashes of the scalp in our office. Seborrheic dermatitis, or scalp dandruff, is a common condition that can look similar to psoriasis, eczema, or an allergic reaction. However, each of these skin diseases requires different treatment, and that is why we always recommend that you get a proper diagnosis by a board-certified dermatologist.

Although seborrheic dermatitis treatment cannot cure the condition in adults, it has many benefits to help control it. Treatment can reduce swelling and itch, loosen and remove scale, and prevent a skin infection. For some people, seborrheic dermatitis can clear without treatment. However, seborrheic dermatitis more often lasts for years. You might see it clear and flare without warning, and treatment is necessary to control it. For infants, seborrheic dermatitis often disappears by 6 months to 1 year of age, but it can return when your child reaches puberty.

Other disorders of the scalp can include eczema, skin inflammation, rashes and more. We recommend getting proper treatment to help control any symptoms such as burning, itching, inflammation, and redness.

Through Vu Pharmaceuticals, treatment for seborrheic dermatitis and other eczematous disorders of the scalp are more convenient and accessible for our patients.
