About Acne
Did you know that acne is the most common skin condition in the United States? In fact, it affects up to 50 million Americans annually. Acne can appear as pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads, and usually appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders. Acne is not harmful to your health, but it is persistent and can cause emotional distress. Unfortunately, treating acne incorrectly can also lead to skin discoloration and scarring.
There are many causes of acne such as hormones, an imbalanced diet, inconsistent skin care, and more. Acne can affect a person’s self-confidence, which in turn can affect relationships and cause mood changes and social withdrawal. Patients treated for their acne often report higher quality of life once their skin begins to improve.
By receiving Vu Pharmaceuticals acne medication at the time of your visit, you can get your medicine in a more convenient and accessible way without the delay of prior authorizations or waiting at the pharmacy.
What types of acne medication can I get through Vu Pharmaceuticals?
Acne treatment options are based on many factors including, but not limited to, the severity and type of acne, skin type and current skin regiment. One of the most useful acne medications if tretinoin cream 0.025%.
● Tretinoin Cream 0.025% (Tretinoin 0.025%, niacinamide 4%, hyaluronic acid sodium salt 0.5%)
Tretinoin Cream 0.025% is commonly used to treat mild acne and maintain the wellness of your skin. Tretinoin reduces clogged pores, normalizes oil production, prevents new acne, and improves discoloration and shallow scars caused by acne. Tretinoin can also help reduce sun damage. Niacinamide has anti-inflammatory effects on pimples and reduces oil production. Hyaluronic acid decreases the dryness associated with these two medications. If Tretinoin Cream is too drying on your skin, Dapsone Gel may be another alternative mild acne medication. Use this medication as instructed by your provider.
Please read our Tretinoin 0.025% cream handout for more information.
As with any medication, including acne medications, reactions and concerns should be brought to the attention of your prescribing provider. Topical treatment regiments can be catered to the patient, including dosing, applications and strengths. Please contact the office before discontinuing your medication.
